Car Insurance- What's Needed?
The Hubbie has given me the task of finding a cheaper car hire option.
I've found a couple of options. I need to check that EVERYTHING is covered. We normally book with Alamo so I just hit the "fully inclusive cover or gold package". Can someone please list the insurance MUST HAVES. On Holiday Auto's the following is included. Is this enough? Included for Free
Collision Damage Waiver Theft Protection Third Party Protection Cancellation Amendments |

Just check that the CDW is with no excess and that the Third Party cover (aka Supplemental Liability insurance aka Extended Protection) is for $1m not the State minimum of $25k
Give Andy at DFCH a try but do it through his "special offers" tab. Loads of Dibbers have been getting good prices through his off-line search. discountfloridacarhire/ Mick

Thanks Mick. Just contacted Andy under the "special offer tab". Looking into the above things you've mentioned.
Thanks |

I’ll jump on your thread rather than making another….
We usually use Alamo via AutoEurope and have never bought any extra insurance. Next time though, we are using Avis via Holiday Autos. I’m a bit confused about their insurance. What it covers and what it doesn’t. In particular, the section that says what’s not covered. So, if the tyres were shot or I bashed a mirror would I end up with a big bill? We haven’t paid for the extra insurance as it is an extra £35/day (£665!). Included in the Price •CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) and Vehicle Theft coverage with Zero Excess. (Not covered under the included cover: Tyres, Wheels, Rear view and side mirrors, Windows, Hubcaps, Taxi (transportation), Towing costs, Locks, Battery, Motor, Undercarriage and Interior of car, Clutch, Replacement Keys, Damage to oil sump, Catalytic convertor, Radiator). •Third Party Cover/ Supplemental Liability Insurance (up to 1 million USD). |
