Trying to think what we had now but I remember making them for me and hubby one year and getting annoyed cos we made them up before taking them into the room. Think it was Brie and we used those hovis biscuits or it could have been hard cheese. I’m not sure it was messy and time consuming lol I wouldn’t be doing that for guests. Or am I thinking of something else.

Might plonk some on the table.
Can’t see them eating it though.

We usually do a buffet either boxing day or New Years eve. My family like the indian type foods. We tend to put the food out at lunch time then pick all day, so it becomes lunch and tea. Most items keep well in the fridge and will be lunches for the next few days

I am encouraged by your use of the word plonk. Bung and chuck also appropriate. 😂

I like to look like I’ve made an effort without really making one

I agree and I have bottles of gerkins and pickled onions, branston around them! Very sophisticated

Interesting ES, plonk means very cheap wine to me. I also use bung or throw (chuck) for buffet items that I don't want to spend too much time on, or prepping - aka shop-bought. 😊

I agree about plonk meaning wine but I was encouraged by her attitude.

I think many of us are on the same page here, always good to find your people.

Vampireness if you get some nice looking platters it's easier to just put stuff on them in the previously arranged way they are bought.
Oh and the wraps from Costco are to die for and arrive ready to serve just remove plastic lids.
