United Airlines thoughts?
Had our Barbados holiday cancelled with Thomas Cook for December so looking at Florida. We have AP for Universal.
Can get United Airline flights from Man via Newark and home via Frankfurt. Need to book today but would like reviews as always fly Virgin to MCO direct. Is there IFE, food included etc? Help!

We have flown United, found them very good. From memory IFE & food were fine.

We flew United ex DUB 2 years ago and it was absolutely fine.
DD's seat socket didn't work so they moved her to the row in front. Food was fine for us.

Flew with them earlier this year out to LA via Chicago and back via San Francisco. All really good, and particularly easy transfer at SF if anyone’s ever considering that.
No weight limit on cabin bags (one bag plus one personal item) - if it’s within the size limits and you can lift it over your head, you can take it on board! Wouldn’t think twice about using them again. |

We have flown with them many times and never had any issues IFE has always been fine and I don't eat the food but everyone else does so can't be that bad Would have used them again for our trip next year but BA beat them on price for us.

I've flown with United a few times, most recently last year.
Their international flights are generally decent, most have decent IFE and food is decent. Though if I'm not wrong I was on a 747 or 777 (I might be wrong) in 2017 from Newark to Hong Kong that had a very outdated IFE system. Was incredibly impressed by the Dreamliners I was on last year. Their domestic flights don't have anywhere near as good IFE though - I think the domestic flights I took last year and in 2017 didn't even have personal TV screens. They're generally shorter flights though so not a huge issue. I'm happy to fly with them again provided the price is right - I've had a few delays and one cancellation with them but they've generally sorted things out decently well when these happen. Was very impressed by their travel waivers and rebooking in event of unexpected circumstances (like hurricane, forest fires).

So your flight will be transatlantic with United each way and there will be seatback TVs and the entertainment is fine, not brilliant but there’s enough to keep you happy. Seat width, pitch etc is the same as any transatlantic plane. Food is ok, it’s nithing to complain about but neither will it blow your socks off (if any economy flight does that any more!)
Your Newark connection will be a short haul plane so probably no seatback entertainment and food only to purchase. Likewise your Frankfurt to UK flight will be with a short haul Lufty plane so again no seatback entertainment although I think they do serve hot drinks and a snack... |
