Does anyone ever book more ADR's than needed?
Just wondering if people book a few extra ADR's than needed just incase plans change?
One evening I can't decide upon where to be exactly. Does anyone book more than needed then cancel them as their plans firm up? Does that work well for keeping options open etc.? Thanks Dibbers

Yes. I think it is very common to overbook. It would explain why there is availability at short notice even at popular restaurants. Lots of people cancelling at the last minute when their plans have changed.
Remember to cancel though. There are few ADRs that require 48 hours to cancel. |

Has anyone actually been charged for cancelling within the specified time period?

We always end up cancelling ADRs. I always book too many so we have a good selection but in reality sometimes plans change or we just want a quick bite rather than a sit down meal. Booking so far in advance means it's almost impossible to get this 100% right so book what you think gives you a good choice and as you get closer you can cancel. Our booking window opened today and I booked the 1st 4 days and within 4hrs we had decided to cancel one. Last time we were there we moved or changed some booking on the actual day and didn't get charged but I don't thing we just cancelled any outright so not sure how strict they are on that.

Personally I never book more than we will use. I do sometimes change my mind though and modify the time or the restaurant. We've not been charged for cancelling an ADR but perhaps that's because I've always swapped it for something.

I wouldn't feel right about taking availability away from others.
We changed our plans often while we were there, and made lots of ADRs on the day or the day before. Obviously you need to know which ones are harder to get, and which ones are an absolute must for you. But we found it very easy to change our plans once there.

I have a few extras whilst I firm up plans, however I don't hang on any longer than I need to because it clutters up the "My Plans" section and I don't like that.
