Need a cheap hotel for one night central London
DS has a hospital appointment in Chelmsford on 28th March. We will.need to travel to London the day before, and catch the train from Liverpool Street station to Chelmsford next day. We just need a cheap place to stay over (twin beds) Not even bothered if it's a shared bathroom so long as it's clean. Can anyone recommend anywhere within walking distance of Liverpool Street station please.

It would probably be cheaper to stay in Chelmsford itself ... could that work for you ?

I'm not sure, the appointment is 1pm on 28th so I was thinking we'd take the 30 minute journey that morning.
I don't mind if it's up to £70/£80 for the night

I agree with Duchy. There's a new Premier Inn across the road from Chelmsford station and it's a few minutes walk to the town centre for restaurants.
Lots of taxis at the station to take you to Broomfield the next day, or I think there's a bus from outside the station. This is it: premierinn/gb/en/hot...id=GLBC_CHECIT Edited at 03:58 PM. |

Cheap hotels in London often hover around the £90 to £120 a night price tag. Even Travelodge and Premier Inn are nowhere near the rates you get outside Greater London. If there are special events on such as the Marathon or Pop Star concerts then rates can often double (or treble).

It's Springfield hospital, we are seeing an orthopedic surgeon. Is that close to station and hotel, I don't know the area at all.
Originally we had an appointment in Harley Street with the surgeon, but it was on 2nd March when we had all the disruption with snow! Had to rearrange and the earliest appointment is now at Chelmsford.

Checked the Premier Inn and it's fully booked for that night unfortunately ☹️ It's all a bit of a rush to sort out

The Travelodge at Stratford has a room for £89 and you could get the train from Stratford to Chelmsford. I'm not sure you'll do much better than that in London really. Lots of restaurants at Westfields for the evening as well.

I'd book the Travelodge at Chelmsford , walking distance of the station and with the current discount code on the travelodge website £66 and they do have availability. Lots of places nearby for a leisurely breakfast and great shops so you could easily fill time til your appointment.
I'd chose this above Stratford as food etc will be cheaper than Westfield and minimal fuss to the hospital the next day but Stratford has the Olympic Park if you want a spot of sightseeing. Edit ... Travelodge is 10 mins in a cab to the Springfield or you can get a bus from Parkway which is about 8 mins walk from the hotel. Personally I'd Uber it . Edited at 05:22 PM. |

Booking at Chelmsford also gives you the piece of mind that you aren't going to be delayed by any woes Greater Anglia might have on the day. They are prone to them.
