Virgin Atlantic changed my flight today to Economy Classic

Just in case this helps anyone, my flight next month has changed to economy classic (I booked it ages ago before the new fare types were announced).

I assume that anyone else who booked before the new fare types will now automatically be changed to economy classic, which comes with free seat selection.

I pre paid to select my seats and I can't see Virgin refunding me, but anyone who hasn't chosen seats might now be able to do it for free ... worth a look in any case to check

I have flights booked for April and November. The ones that are extra legroom are now delight. The others are classic however I cannot select seats unless I pay £30.

I’ve just looked, and got the message if you’ve booked after 17th March, you get free seat selection...I would have to pay.

I looked at my bookings. I have seats reserved for both my upcoming flights - I have 3 UC legs and one economy leg.

Definitely a change today as when loading seat maps it comes up with a message saying 'did you book your flight before 17 March? If so you may have to pay to select your seats'.

Really not sure how they're going to 'police' this TBH, but I think bookings will have to go into the 'classic' or 'delight' category because of the luggage allowance otherwise it will be too confusing for check-in staff and could cause issues.

Awh guess they thought of that worth a look though as I couldn't tell from my booking as I'd already paid. It does now give me the opportunity to upgrade to economy delight which wasn't there before.

We booked indirect Virgin/Delta flights with Netflights a couple of months ago. Until today, it was asking me to pay to select my seats on the Virgin legs (I'd booked the Delta leg seats for free already).

I just logged into my booking, which is now showing economy classic, and chose my seats for free.

Saves me £300 as there are 5 of us!

OMG wonder if that's a glitch or whether any others have found that too?

Haven't seen anyone else mention it!

We did pay more than I wanted to for our flights... £600pp indirect (dates surrounding October half term, ridiculously priced flights!), and we're in booking codes Q on the way out and E on the way back, so not the cheapest codes. Maybe that has something to do with it?
