We did pay more than I wanted to for our flights... £600pp indirect (dates surrounding October half term, ridiculously priced flights!), and we're in booking codes Q on the way out and E on the way back, so not the cheapest codes. Maybe that has something to do with it?
Maybe it does, or wonder if it could be something to do with it being Delta/Virgin?
Either way - A nice unexpected bonus for you 😊

Is E not premium economy?

Edit: ignore that it's the 7th highest economy fare, I think you've been lucky

I'm flying out 14th April & have just logged in to my booking & selected the 'Book Seats' option & as mentioned in another response, a pop-up box appeared over the seating plan stating that if my seats were booked before 17th March I may need to pay to reserve a seat prior to on-line check-in opening. I did, however continue but when I selected a seat was told that It would cost me £30 😌 so didn't bother.

It was only the seats that were previously £30 that I could choose though. The extra leg room ones were greyed out.

My sons booking is now Economy classic, but we have paid for extra legroom seats already so no freebies for us.

I’m flying July and have already paid to pre book seats both ways in economy. What class seat am I now in and am I needing to do anything?

Economy Classic (unless you booked ELR seats, when it will be Delight). No, nothing to do - still the same.
