When my dd was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (aged 10 in 1983) I was asked if I took medication or drunk coffee during pregnancy. I hadn't taken any meds and have never drunk coffee (yuk) . How guilty would I have felt if I had!

I just copied this from healthline, but I have no personl experience or knowledge of this:

There’s also compelling research to suggest that increasing your coffee intake may actually lower your risk for developing type 2 diabetes. This is good news for those of us who can’t face the day until we get in our cup of java.

Coffee is naturally bitter, perhaps people who prefer bitter to sweet have a lower chance of type 2 diabetes?

Maybe the lifestyle choices of those who drink more coffee involve less sugar than those who (drink sugar rich cans of pop) don't.

Good point, and fortunately I don't have any sugar in my coffee (I know people who have 3 heaped spoons of sugar in each cup), and I have skimmed milk in costa and at home, just a small amount of semi skimmed milk.

I used to drink a couple of tins of diet coke a day, but I probably now only drink one tin every couple of weeks (funny how habits change).

Coffee breath is a terrible curse on 21st century Britain.

Each cup of coffee should, mandatorily, be sold with a breath freshener to be consumed immediately after the coffee has been drunk.
