Tips for stuff in hand luggage bag for plane journey

Anyone any tips for things to take in hand luggage for the plane journey?

I'm usually equipped with Kindle, ear plugs, hand wipes, tissues and head phones but are there any items you've found that make the journey more comfortable?

Grateful for any suggestions!

I usually take a big scarf/pashmina which doubles up as a lightweight cover. Handy if you fancy a snooze.
A few sweets to munch away the boredom.
Last year I took a bullet journal and some fine liners and tried super hard to keep a diary of everything. It's really lovely to look back on and was totally with the effort.

Antibacterial wipes to wipe down seat tray, remote , screen and pretty much everything !
A bag for rubbish In case staff are slow to clear up.
Lavender essential oil on a hanky to help relax or incase some nearby people stink .( a past experience of that )
Eye cream, face moisturiser and lip balm .
Big bottle water .
Socks ( if none on )
Antibacterial hand gel and face wipes.

Always have a pashmina to use as a blanket.
Power bank.
Toothbrush and toothpaste
Hair brush
Eye mask
Ear plugs
Wipes
Fruity sweets

This year, we are all going to take a couple of outfits in our hand luggage too.

Being a little more prosaic but we always pack all our prescribed meds in our cabin baggage just in case hold cases go astray. They're all tablets not liquids.

And as has been said our M&S sandwiches to complement or replace the plane food.

ooh thanks for all the tips!
Lip balm and pashmina are good ones.

I'm laughing at the thouight of smelly passengers but I'm sure it's not uncommon!

Is it worth getting changed into another outfit on arrival?

Meds a good idea.

We're flying Virgin - I think I'm right in thinking I can take a handbag as well as a bag up to 10kg?
