I have also done this a few times, it is not about saving the money, but DD, DS and I have gone on a few trips to Alton Towers, we just want to be in the same room - we have fun before lights out, then chat for a bit after lights out and reflect on the day etc. DD goes to uni and Ds lives away from home, so we dont see each other often enough, this is a time to spend together.

But he's 16! If it was another adult then I'd get your point but I'd not consider putting a 16 yr old in their own room!

We stayed there and it was really nice. We were going to stay there in June so I rang and Carmel said they don't do family rooms anymore.

Thank you for all your replies, it's definitely not a money thing it's I really don't want him in a room on his own especially at the start of our holiday when everyone is excited and want to be together
