Travel insurance advice

Help, I'm confused.

I have Nationwide's FlexPlus account which gives me worldwide travel cover, have always used this. Tendonitis in my arm/shoulder was declared last year and included as no extra charge.
I'm now on medication for anxiety and called up to declare this - they want an extra £134 to cover me for the year! This seems very excessive, considering. I opted to decline it and now apparently my tendonitis is also not covered? So they continue to cover me and my trips but tendonitis & anxiety are excluded.
I can't see any reason I'd need to claim for either (I've been 'anxious' almost forever, it is what it is, and there's nothing anyone can seem to do for my arm and I'm used to getting on with it) and am inclined just to leave it there.
But I got wondering if I should get a second policy that will cover these conditions - my cheapest quote online is £34 for annual cover.

Is it worth doing? Are there any problems with having two policies? I'm not convinced it's necessary but am quite annoyed Nationwide have removed the tendonitis cover.

I think there are issues with having 2 policies. I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along. Our insurance is with Bank of Scotland and last year they wanted about £120 to add on my whiplash from a car accident. I chose to exclude it as it was a healing injury and unlikely to cause an issue apart from the pain which I was used to.

We are also with Nationwide FlexPlus and have declared conditions. However my experience is the less invasive surgical issues don't attract much of a financial loading whereas more invasive ones and non surgical things do.

For example My Wife had shoulder pain and declared she was awaiting an operation - no charge. Now awaiting a hip replacement and they charged £75.

I have high blood pressure and migraines. £105. Constant back pain and bulging disc plus weekly Chiro visits - no charge! Go figure.

I would say the anxiety is the issue that is causing the loading.

For ongoing medical issues Nationwide FlexPlus isn't the best. I would do some online quotes and maybe dump Nationwide totally.

Edit. My advice to you is never travel to America with a condition not covered. What if your anxiety made you panic, you slipped and broke your leg? No insurance!

Yes it's definitely the anxiety causing the issue, tendonitis was no problem until I declared that.

If I take a separate policy just for me to cover the conditions, I don't want to ditch Nationwide as I use the other insurances they have (as do the rest of the family). Perhaps I should call them back and ask if it affects anything.

Just in case it helps anyone else - have just called Nationwide and they say it's fine to have a second policy covering the things they don't, any claims need notifying to both. So I guess that's what I'll do as the FlexPlus cover is still useful to me for other things!
