New York. Best month ?
Evening
Next year I hit the big 50 so planning on a 5 day'er to New York. My birthday is in January - but I dont want to go, as a first time, when its cold, wet and snowy. I also dont want to go, anticipating the amount of walking, when its too hot. When would be the 'ideal' time to go, pleasant sunny weather time? Also. There will be 4 adults. Would you suggest doing the 5 days to include the weekend, Say Thursday - Monday or do a Monday - Friday. Not sure if it would make a difference - not to the cost, but to anything I 'should' be doing as a 1st timer that would only be happening on a weekend for example. Thank you for reading and advance thanks for any advice - anything is welcome xx |

We went once in early April, we had snow and zero degrees then a few days later it was 17 degrees.
Also went end may, beginning of June and weather was perfect, sunny and warm but not humid and not too hot to walk about. Probably low 70s.

If you arrange the trip so that it includes a Sunday morning then you could do brunch!

I would say September/October but it's a little far away from your birthday... We've been three times at this time of the year and it was perfect, great weather and beautiful coloured trees! We went August last year and although we loved it I think if we returned it would be autumn/fall time. :-)

We went the last week of September and the weather was perfect for us low 20's tee-shirt and shorts and just a light jacket one night

We love March however the weather is very changeable that time of year. Mild and sunny one day then can be a couple of degrees above 0 and snowing the next.
We have been beginning of September and found it too hot, can't contemplate walking round a city in shorts and tshirts it just wouldn't feel right. We have been a few times beginning of January and it was freezing and snowing. I would say looking at the beginning half of the year then from April to about June would be good before it hits summer and gets hot. Edited at 10:20 AM. |

We went in January last year and I really wouldn't rule it out. Yes it was cold but that added to the fun but wrap up warm! The biggest win for us was the crowds we didn't queue for anything. And because of this got to do so much more

We went at the end of May and found it really hot for walking around. We went at the end of October last year and it was lovely cool weather, except for one day when it was mid 20s and a bit hot (which also made everywhere really busy).

We've been in March: freezing and July: too hot.
We're trying early October this year
