Washington DC in February
Hi all
We are off to Washington DC in a few weeks and I thought we were all sorted, including booking the hop on hop off trolley for two days to use as transport to all of the sights. However... Ive literally just had an email from the trolley company to say that they are no longer offering the extended stop trolley tour (which includes Georgetown and Arlington), and they are cancelling our booking and suggesting we book the shorter trolley tour instead. The main reason I opted for this tour was because, if I remember correctly, (it's over 25 years since I've been to DC!), that Arlington and Georgetown are further out than the main places in and around the Mall? Is that right? Can anyone who has been to Washington offer us some advice how best to tour DC please? How did you get to places like Arlington? Are there any tours you recommend us booking? We don't mind walking, but as its February, I planned to use the trolley as much to give the boys a break from the possible cold weather as much as for transport! - do you think booking some sort of tour to help with the cold is a good idea too? Many thanks for any advice |

Use the subway. There's a station at Arlington, although you can walk across the bridge at the end of the mall. For Georgetown the metro station is Foggy Bottom.
Subway is perfectly safe and convenient. If you decide you want a hop on and off you can buy tickets when you're there. We always use Old Town Trolley. Edited at 05:45 PM. |

Hi,
We stayed in Foggy Bottom, so no help there as we walked to Georgetown. We used the hoho Big Bus to get to the sights, including Arlington

Thank you ever so much for your replies
Ive ended up buying HOHO tickets' as with the possibility of cold weather I think it might be quite nice to listen to some commentary in the relative warm of a bus for some places! |
