Not sure when you are going, but economy flights can be had for around the mid-£600 mark for August (see below). We are using a combination of Avios for our outbound MAN-LAX with BA, and VA miles for SFO-MAN (direct), so can't really comment on prices as such.

However, I am still hoping for another good price as we got for our business class flights MAN-ATL-JAX this year (£1,100 each including car rental). If these prices do materialise, we can cancel our existing bookings for the admin fee and book a cash fare.

Hiya, looking at booking Vegas myself at the moment as we went 2 years ago and loved it. We stayed at the Flamingo which that area of the strip is definitely ideal for staying in - we were lucky and got a view of bellagio fountains but without having to pay the price of bellagio!

Personally I wouldn't go over the top hotel price wise as we hardly spent any time there, there is so much to do and so many hotels to visit the shops and casinos and various attractions of you'd be better keeping your money for spending on things like this.

If I wasn't on a budget I'd definitely stay at the cosmopolitan - best free drink casino in our experience and we both won more often than lost in there so thats probably our sway!

You'll have a ball! x

Flying into La and driving is often cheaper. Food on the strip is cheaper than the casionos depending how much you cycle. See my previous posts on this.

I have made a profit 0n Vegas. Not large. But possible.

Yep the last few years and again this year we have flown into LA and driven to Vegas, there are 4 of us and the saving is significant .

And we would always have a car in Vegas .

We are paying £536 each for direct flights to LAX in March and a people carrier with insurance for 19 nights.

I do think food is expensive on the strip now though, seems to have shot up in the last few years... so we mostly eat off strip.

The hotel thing depends though, I wouldn't pay silly money for a hotel but at the same time I like a decent hotel. I've been to the Flamingo 3 times most recently 3 years ago and we all disliked it so tired and worn. Had I not paid upfront I'd have checked out and gone back to South Point.

I think the public areas are very tired , its in massive need of a good refurb.

For similar money we've much preferred rooms in Planet Hollywood & NYNY. The Linq too is a good option as its had a major renovation.

My preference having stayed in various parts of the strip in 8 trips is the South End.. I find there is plenty going on down there and a bigger choice of places to eat.. and it takes us about 20 mins to walk from NYNY to say Planet Hollywood.

Just booked it as a surprise for me and the DW.

Can't wait! And with Virgin there's a 'free upgrade' offer if the availability is there... So... I'm looking at trying to get into a Terrace One Bedroom as I've booked a Terrace Studio.
