If you book via one of the reputable companies then the ins packages offered will be acceptable. CDW, SLI, UMP, Basic Roadside Assistance, as a minimum IMO
Have a look at websites such as USRENTACAR' |

I always arrange extra cover with insurance 4 car hire. It has cost me £100 for US cover this year (usually only have Europe) but worth it. I then do not have to take the car hire extra insurance which is usually a lot more expensive.
I renewed my policy yesterday and they were really good. When in Italy the rental company wanted to charge me £400 for the same insurance. All I have to do in Florida (yet to be tested but this is what they told me) is hand over a printed policy wording and schedule to the hire company so they deal direct. You must still take the basic compulsory insurance but the extra is covered by this policy. Not ever had to test if they are any good (thank fully) but it suits me better and I think it has wider coverage (eg includes tyres and lights etc) |
