I recall in 2009 we fluked a midnight shuttle launch.

We had been in Seaworld all day and left after the fireworks at the close of the park.
I knew there was supposed to be a launch but you know how these things get cancelled... but we all agreed to drive to Titusville just in case.

We got there at 11pm and watched the shuttle Discovery launch at midnight.

My in-laws still tell me that whole day was the best of their holiday lives.

I was gutted because I didn't film it... it was dark and I didn't think there would be anything to see... how wrong could I be! The midnight sky lit up like daylight for a minute or two! truly, truly spectacular and awesome.
