Cane Fishing - Port Orlean / Fort Wilderness
My eldest DD (12) surprisingly got hooked on the last series of Robson Green's fishing programme & is keen to have a go at catching something.
Having seen some info on the WDW site that they do 30 min / 1hr taster sessions on lakes at both Port Orleans & Fort Wilderness Resorts. It appears quiet a fun cheap activity to pass an hour ($13 for a family up to 6 with cane pole & bait included) My question is has anyone tried it , would you recommend it & which location would you say is better ? Might even get DW to have a go but I think she is more interested in Robson Green than the fishing Thanks Mark |

We tried it at the fishing hole at POR and didn't get a single bite. Neither did anyone else that was doing it. Maybe it was just an off day for the fish, but we won't be doing it again.

We've done this a few times at POR and it's a great activity. We caught quite a few fish each time. Not sure where you are staying but they do ask for room keys so I assume it's for resort guests only.

We are staying at Coronado Springs , can you drive over to PO/FW or would you need to take to bus ?

If you have a car - take it... it would be hassle to get a bus because you'd have to go to a park from CSR and then get a bus to POR

Excited about Disney

We have done it every time we have been to FLorida, only at POR though we have not tried Fort Wilderness. It is a good way to break up the day as something to do on a non park day. We musthave done it about 12 times or so, not caught everytime, but it is a great relaxing way to while away and hour or so - and the kids love it!

We fish at FW every time we go as the boys love it, there are a few very good spots, one is at a canal that feeds into the main lake, bite virtually everytime you cast out, i just asked the guy at the rental shop for the best location and he directed me that way.
