I'm guessing this is based on the following article (or something similar):

wdwmagic/attractions/...ening-date.htm

BTW, 9th June is a week and a half after Memorial Day and not part of Memorial weekend.

Anyhoo, even if it does open on Memorial Day weekend, I still expect AK and Avatarland will remain very busy for many months afterwards. The crowds aren't suddenly going to reduce after 9th June. If anything, the summer crowds will start to increase around this time.

Also, I note that it ties in with half term holidays here in the UK.

Hummmm- I had AK planned for the 27th - not sure if this is good or bad, certainly don't want it to be overbusy. I will have to watch how things progress closer to the time

The Disney parks are probably going to be busy around 27th to 29th May anyway because its Memorial Day weekend (a bit like a bank holiday weekend here in the UK). So if you want to visit when its quieter I'd suggest heading there before the 27th if you can.

If Avatarland does open on the 27th I suspect it will be very busy that weekend.

If it's a soft opening then doubtful but hoping it will be fully open in which case fastpasses well may be available.

This is more likely to be the official opening date rather than soft openings. If it is the official opening then Avatar would have been open before hand for soft openings... say from April onwards.

Actually, I just thought of something. Instead of Avatarland, this could be when Rivers of Light is planned to start.

It's perhaps a bit later than I'd expect - I think most folk are guessing RoL will open in April. However, we still don't know when that's coming and it could also increase crowds when it arrives.
