Accommodation ideas for Anna Maria Island.
Hi all,
So we are planning next year’s summer holiday. We already have onsite Disney booked and a townhouse. We are looking at spending 2 nights in Clearwater and thanks to all the information from my previous post, we ha e decided on 2 nights in Anna Maria island. We have stayed in Clearwater before and stayed in Frenchys Oasis motel, which was lovely. My husband and daughter loved it as you could lend fishing rods and fish off the pier behind our room. Think we are going to try Pier 60 in Clearwater for next year as a change. Is there anywhere close by that you can fish, as my husband and daughter would like to do this again? We have never visited AMI before and are 2 adults and 2 teenage girls (aged 15 and 14). I have had a look at one of the recommendations given on here, Sunrise Garden Resort which looks perfect but it’s fully booked for our dates. Are there any other suggestions for accommodation? Also any must dos for AMI please would be great? Thank you all. Edited at 01:56 PM. Reason: Change in location |

Lots of people recommend the Grand Plaza Resort at St Pete's (see Wizzo's trip reports) and we have a night booked there for our upcoming trip. I don't think it is a 'posh' hotel but location location location!

The Grand Plaza looked nice in St Pete’s. We stayed at the Tradewinds and were impressed.
Room size was great. There is a resort fee but that included parking and the use of the big inflatable slide on the beach. You also get a comfy cabana for 2 for free which was great. There were other activities - mini golf, paddle boats included.

St Pete isn’t as polished as Clearwater and it hasn’t got a marina but the beach is gorgeous! We stayed in the Guy Harvey Outpost which has recently been refurbished and renamed RumFish Beach Resort by Tradewinds. This was just along the beach from the Grand Plaza and we had a lovely meal at Bongos Beach Bar and grill overlooking the beach and sunset 😁
Resort fees seem to have increased in this area though so watch out for these |

We recently stayed at the Grand Plaza at St Pete Beach. Tbh I think the rooms are in need of a refurb. The bathroom fittings had seen better days and the air on unit was really noisy. However, it really is in an excellent location, all the staff were really friendly and the beach is fab. The breakfast buffet was very nice (we had planned to go out for breakfast but there was a thunderstorm so decided to stay in.)

Just came back from Clearwater yesterday and stayed at Opal Sands resort which was lovely. It’s at the end of the beach and all rooms overlooked the ocean. There were 6 of us and all were able to stay in one room which was a squeeze but we were only there for one night.
We also did the little toots boat trip, which was great.

Our favourite each visit is Anna Maria Island laid back and a great beach. Piers to go fishing and great views of the Dolphins off th3 beach. There are plenty of places to stay, we always stay at Harrington House B and B but they have rentals as well.
