Thank you retail staff

I am grateful to everyone who works in retail during the pandemic as not surprisingly they are at high risk and often earn minimum wage, plus the shift work and many shops being open 7 days a week.

I let a lady go in front of me at the Marks checkout today as it looked like she had bought her lunch, and the lady on the till thanked me and said that some customers are so rude to staff and even walk close to people at the till to try and rush them. Ages ago a nice lady on the till in Asda said that some customers swore at till staff because some items were limited in number per customer and they took it out on the till staff (what absolute idiots).

So thank you retail staff because you are at a high risk of coronavirus and most I've met are friendly and polite.

Obviously I'm also grateful for other essential service staff like hospital/medical staff, ambulance drivers/paramedics, the police, bus drivers (the list is long).

Yes we do get abused MH, I've been sworn at, threatened and one time I was called a liar for telling someone that something was out of stock 😟
I'm redundant now but I feel sorry for everyone that are working in retail 👍

That is disgusting that you've been threatened (there are some nasty baskets around).

Thanks for your contribution and are you actively looking for another retail job or has it put you off?

I will tell my son you appreciate all his hard work, he gets customers get rude to him but always gives it back politely of course!

I'm not looking now until all this is over, I only worked part-time but I loved my job ☹️ I'll never find one like that again and that makes me sad, I miss my work colleagues more than anything 😢 the laughs were constant all day long 😆👍

My Primark Manager son has often been sworn at ☹️A young lady told him where to go when he told her that her toddler son couldn’t use the staff toilet & to use the shopping centres one instead, she replied back” well I’m gonna let him do it on the floor then 😳”

Its unbelievable Claire, some people have no shame, and no respect ☹️
Most of our customers were lovely though I have to say, I used to get given Christmas presents and chocolates sometimes because I would go out of my way to help someone get something they wanted, I'm too soft for my own good maybe 🤔👍

My son has a degree in performing arts but works at Asda because couldn’t get a job. He does impressions of the customers and cracks me up!
