First time HHN with Express Passes...POA?

Hi everyone,

It will be our first time going to HHN and we are so excited!

We have purchased express passes but just wondering how to plan our evening?

Which holding area should we go to, what time should we get there etc.

Thanks in advance

Just realised this post should probably be moved to the Theme Parks section.

Depends on which house you want to start with, this year we’re going into the finnegans holding per, so we can be straight out of the pen into stranger things. Or you can go in the one near the simpsons, I think it depends on which houses you want to do first.
We don’t buy the express passes we just plan on which houses are going to be the busiest and do that.
It’s a brilliant night we go every year

Thank you. Stranger Things will be top of our list. What time do you get to the holding pens?

Thanks x

This is what we do

We head for the holding pens just before 5pm, there are a couple, if you want to hit Stranger Things first, you may want to go to the one by Finnigans otherwise there is one by the Simpsons. The advantage of these two is there are plenty of food options whilst you wait. Universal woke up to the fact a couple of years ago that they have a captive audience and they could maximise this by keeping food outlets open, not just finnegans and the Simpsons Bar

They tend to let you out between 5.30 and 5.40 depending on what time they clear the park. There will be a couple of houses open at this time. Last year Stranger Things got very busy very quickly, so you may want to head their first.

You are also best doing the other houses by the front of the park (there is usually one by the side entrance of Shrek, one down the side of Minions, one by Escape from New York and two by the Corner of Central Park. These tend to be the busiest as people hit them first when coming in. They stagger the opening so keep an eye out as you can get very close the front of the line if you are there at opening. These houses do tend to be consistently busy all night

After that - take a break - ride a couple of rides, eat food, see scare zones before working towards the back of the park. As these tend to be slightly quieter. Some of them around Barny can have deceptively long walks.

Have fun

If you have Express Passes (for the houses) you don't need to stress too much about getting front of the queue for opening. We had Express Passes this year and after spending the day in the park we went for food in Citywalk and headed back in once the HHN gates were open.

We did every house in one night. Although one thing I would say is that doing it that way definitely meant that by the time we'd done the first half of the we were kind of immune to the 'fear factor' for the rest of the evening.
