How To Get A Reservation for Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland

If you are planning to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the Disneyland Resort between 31 May and 23 June 2019, then in addition to your theme park admission you will need a separate pre booked reservation to enter the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge land.

Guests that do not have a reservation will not be allowed entry to the new land. Reservations will not be needed after 23 June 2019.

Guests staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel will be guaranteed a reservation, one for each guest.*

For Guests not staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel they will need to make a reservation for the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge land via the Disneyland website.

The reservation system opens on 2nd May 2019 at 10am PT (6pm UK time)

So is this because they're expecting *much* more visitors on those dates than in say August?

The crowds at Disneyland's Star Wars Galaxy's Edge is probably going to be larger due to it being the first to open so people interested in this and can go to California will want to visit this new land as soon as they can, especially die hard Star Wars fans and all the Press, website authors, vloggers and blogs.

There is a big press event on the 2nd June where they are closing the park to regular guests at 6pm. The invited Press and other delegates will have access to the park after 6pm on the 2nd. Simon and I will be in attendance at this press event.

Then there is the fact that Disneyland is much smaller than Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World has the advantage of being able to spread the crowds through all it's parks.

Using the reservation system allows Disney to control the level of crowds entering the new land. Whether the same or similar reservation system will be used for the opening at Disney Hollywood Studios remains to be seen. I would expect Disney will adapt once the results and effects of this reservation system have been evaluated and apply what they have learned to the opening at Disney Hollywood Studios in August.
