Best Date In May For Tokyo 2019 Visit?

As I have bored people here before, looks like we are going to go try and get to Tokyo in May next year.

Questions, which is the earliest date in May to go for, after Golden Week?

We are quite flexible in dates we fly, and want to try and get a reward flight with my VA miles, either with ANA in Business or First from Heathrow to Tokyo - so want to have 2 or 3 weeks worth of dates we try for, from the day AFTER Golden Week ends. Still, it will be hit or miss if we manage to get reward seats...

I have 190,000 as it stands and can always buy another 7000 for £100 - so it is all part of the game with rewards flights!

So, what is the earliest date to go for AFTER GW please? Thinking about it, any date in June we should look to leave before as that is some big holiday?

We arrived midway through Golden Week last year. Everything in Tokyo was busy but not ridiculously so, although my husband had to stand on the Shinkansen back into Tokyo on the last day of GW. Our first day at Tokyo Disney was on the Monday immediately after, when Japan had gone back to work, and it was super quiet.
We had no trouble booking first class outbound using our avios with BA, but had to settle for club class on the way home.

Thanks Lucy, I've just been re-reading your trip report, I thnk I might stay in the same hotels if I can get a good price. The Hilton looks like a good location & the staff sound helpful.
