Mosquito bites - Florida

Hi there,

I am also loved greatly by the mozzie community and it's been a hit and miss over the last few years on what works for me, so this is the guide that protects me from "MOST" bites - Only got 2 this year...

4 weeks before holiday:

Odourless garlic pills (Holland & Barrett)
B Complex/Vitamin B1 (H&B again)
1 x Antihistamine daily

Continue all of the above from a few weeks before your holiday and throughout the holiday and add in "Skin So Soft" after every shower - EVERYWHERE - and I mean EVERYWHERE! on our 1st night this time I clearly missed a couple of areas and earned myself a couple of trophy bites!

I then used the antibacterial hand wash on them which helped greatly and then I did something that I read online (not advising people do this but it worked for me! ) I painted clear nail varnish over the 2 bites and repeated this daily until the inflammation left... and it worked - no itches and the bite healed up within the 1st week - which is unheard of for me! - usually any bites on me swell to size of my head and require me to take antibiotics when I return home!

Never been bitten in last 6 years in Florida (whole family) but Mrs usually eaten alive in EU. Strange.

I am another "mozzie magnet" and react to bites with huge weeping sores! Whilst I prefer not to be bitten in the first place, I saw this on another forum:-

Mozzie bite cure

You pour hot water as hot as you can bear over a teaspoon then place the back of v hot spoon over the bite. Instant relief.

Go to Walmart, find the fishing and hunting aisle. Cutters Outdoorsman spray...brilliant stuff.

DH used to react very badly to mosquito/insect bites; cellulitis on a few occasions.

He started taking a daily anti-histamine a few years ago and although he still gets bitten occasionally, he no longer reacts anywhere near as badly as he used to.

He forgot to take his anti-histamine on our week long trip to California earlier this year; got stung by what we think were fire ants and reacted really badly; 1 has left a scar.

He believes the daily anti-histamine has worked for him.
We buy the non-drowsy Target own brand;300 tablets for around $30-35.

I never get bitten there, always believed it was the amount of alcohol in my blood that put them off. But everyone says skin so soft is the one to use.
