Flying AA for first time - any hints? via Charlotte
Three hour stop over at Charlotte on way out, which is nice and comfortable.
Any hints on the process - bag collection and redrop, time from one flight to another, immigration etc. TIA. |

Check to see if you have seat back entertainment. I flew Vegas-JFK-edin in April on BA codeshare and there was no seat back entertainment and was charged for food on internal flight. Just something to be aware off.

We've just come back from Charlotte - flew with AA on a BA Codeshare. Can't really comment on immigration as unfortunately our direct flight from Heathrow to Charlotte was cancelled and we had to fly via NY and go through immigration there.
We really liked Charlotte airport though - not too big and had a nice feel to it and didn't have any problems or delays getting through security on the way home. Hopefully you'll have a bit of time between flights and can sit and relax in one of the many rocking chairs there |

Here's a hint, relax and enjoy
You probably have there one of the easiest airports to fly in and out of, not too big and most times the gate change is often at the other side of the room (I was going to say terminal but that would make it sound like a journey when it is not, it is a few steps away). |

The AA charlotte route is served by an a330 which has seatback IFE. Did the route 2 years ago and 2.5hrs was just enough time as the flight from LHR was delayed. Lovely airport and i would say one of the best to transit through.

We just returned last Monday on an AA flight from JFK to MAN and it was the oldest plane I have ever flown on. No IFE, no chargers, dropdown screen in central aisle only. Radio stations and 1 television channel. Not great when you can't sleep on the plane. This is not the first time with AA this has happened either.

It all depends on the aircraft.
For example, new flew DUB to PHL on an A330. At PHL to MCO it was the 757, no seat back ife even in business, ok for 2 hours, however this same O'Kane had come in from Glasgow, so 8 hours without seat back ife, not good. Find out which plane it is

We flew via Charlotte in 2009 with what was then USAirways. Lovely airport, you go through immigration and then collect bags, do customs then bag drop for second flight. Then a security check before the next flight. All very easy to navigate.
