The downside is that most contracts like this have a substantial penalty for early cancellation although it is possible that yours does not You must check the details of your own contract. The penalty amount you might have to pay to break the contract could be a lot more than the potential savings on the new deal.

However, it is often worth phoning up and saying that you could have obtained a far better deal as a new customer and is there anything they could do as a good will gesture with your current contract? The alternative is just to wait until they decide to put the price you are paying on your contract UP. You are not obliged to accept that increase at that point and would be able to cancel your contract penalty free.

Most broadband contracts are 18 months in length and come with a 14 or 30 day cooling off period so if the contract is literally days old you may have an out .

Is it a new contract or was it a 24 month deal?

Who is the cheaper deal with, cheaper is not always better.
