The Motley Crew do Orlando Pre-Trip Report

Ok so here we go, I have never done any sort of trip report before, but have read many and they have always been helpful and informative, so I hope some of you will find my stuff helpful too.

My wife (Esther) and I have been to Florida 4 times, in 1993 and 1995 we stayed at Wilson World which is now called Ramada Maingate West. In 1998 we stayed at Dixie Landings now Port Orleans Riverside. In 2004 we stayed at a friend’s villa at Eagle Point.

This year we are staying at a villa on Highgate Park during August, we booked this way in advance then panicked because the flights were so expensive, but thanks to our friend who works at BA we managed to get flights from Gatwick into Tampa for £2200 for the 4 of us (phew!). We have also, thanks to advice from my fellow Dibbers, booked into Royal Pacific for one night to benefit from the unlimited express passes. We have not told the boys about this so it will be a nice surprise for them.

So here is my motley crew:


Me (Paul) 42, looking forward to IOA and eating at some of the great restaurants that some of you have recommended in your trip reports.

DW (Esther) 40, this year, she is into card making so Michaels and Jo Ann’s is going to be top on her list to visit.

DS1 (Luke) 11, Luke was with us back in 2004 but was only 2 ½ so he is looking forward to ‘everything’ especially the pool at the villa.

DS2 (Oscar) 5, he can’t wait to go on Spiderman he loves the cartoon’s which have been on ITV recently.

As your wife is into crafting, buy the Orlando sentinel newspaper daily, especially on a Sunday as you get vouchers for Joanns and Micheals .. We got some 40% discount coupons that my MIL used.

Great read Paul. We are all getting rather excited about our holiday was hoping to book a night in one of the Universal hotels for DH birthday but he is not keen.
