So finally, got the tax sorted. Used OLT to do the tax return online and it has been accepted. Paid the dues online and had an email to say that's been accepted so hopefully it's the end of all the stress.

To those whose kids did the program last year could I ask a few qs?
Did they get an American sim? Before or when they got there? Did they take any bedding towels etc or buy there? Will they know what room/ size bed they will have before they go? Did they take 2 cases? Did you pay for extra case or upgrade? Any other tips on things to take to save time/ money/ stress? Thanks

My DD upped her EE sim to include the USA for three months. Was £25 per month but I believe that has now increased to £25 per week so is very expensive. She also had no end of of problems with it, at one point couldn't make phone calls. It probably would be easier to get a sim out there but it would mean a new phone number for the duration, unless you can get a good deal with your network for an upgrade. She bought her bedding out there as well as another suitcase to bring home her purchases. In hindsight, it would have been cheaper to pay for a second case there and back and take her bedding with her. She did leave the bedding at the end of her stay for the homeless. She also took her own towels. I also got her a Chase card so she could transfer money from her bank account and not have to use her bank's debit card out there. Chase also let you withdraw cash for free from their ATM's and they have them situated within Disney.

We have O2 and Virgin and her SIM works in the USA with no extra charges.
My eldest Daughter uses a Mint Mobile USA SIM and that works well. My daughter also bought bedding at Target, it was about $30 for the set including the comforter plus a pillow. You need Twin XL, so I am not sure if our bottom sheets would fit. They do know the room type assigned beforehand. If they know someone else going then they can request to share with someone, my DD did this and shared with a school friend which I think was nicer than sharing with a stranger - they worked very different shifts so didn't see much of each other but if it's an option I would consider it. She managed with a big case, carry on case and a backpack. She went out on the Wednesday before as she thought they got park passes early but they don't get their park passes until they move into Flamingo, and then they do get a few days with nothing booked so they can do the parks that first week. I wouldn't go out too early. I think the Friday or Saturday before seemed about right. My big tip - speak to people in those first few days. Molly kept seeing people she recognised from the interviews but was a bit shy. Eventually she spoke to a group, went to Target with them on the bus and they ended up being her group of best friends for the whole contract. This may be a disadvantage of going with a friend as because there were 2 of them it would have been easy to stick together and not say hello but they encouraged each other to 'be brave' and their programme was definitely better for it. Also just make the most of the time, it goes quickly, so go to the parks, sign up for the activities, even if you have to go alone. Molly went to Epcot on 4th of July by herself as everyone else was working, she had a great day and was pleased she did that rather than staying in as she couldn't find a friend who was also off. |

My daughter bought an esim from Mint mobile. It's $45 for 3 months. I think she bought it just before going to the USA. It seemed to work fine for her.
She did take some old bedding and towels with her, which she left over there. We (my wife and I) went over to Florida with her so my DD could use some of our luggage allowance (we were only over there for 2 weeks, not 3 months!). So she only took one large case with her. She knew beforehand what sort of room she was in. The size of the bed is a long single bed - what's called a Twin XL in America. A single sheet will generally fit. My daughter also has a Starling card (I think). Having something like that, or a Chase card as nanu mentions above, would be a good idea.

Thanks so much. A lot to consider!
She’s going on the Friday and staying one night at endless summer as my sister is there and then her and 3 girls she’s met are doing the Saturday and Sunday night at all stars. Luckily she met them at the interview and got on well - they have met up a couple of times since as they are at York/ Leeds unis. We go at the end so will have a few days with her then. Will look to see how much an extra case is x

Do the Disney College program kids get a month off at end of their Disney gig to travel on their US visa like the others (Camp USA workers etc) do?
