Love London. Despite moving away 40 odd years ago, when I visit now it always feels like going home

London is so spread out , a day there often means lots of walking or up and down the tube escalators.
My last visit with my daughter was a deliberately slower pace. We went to the Tim Burton exhibition in Kensington and decided to keep in that same area all day. We started with breakfast at Gail's bakery right by the museum , and afterwards walked into Holland park and had a relax on bench there as it was a warm day, We continued to the Japanese garden there before walking to Notting Hill area and Portobello market. We ate at a pub nearby before catching tube back to Euston.
It was less tiring than too much cris crossing the city .

Oh Lord yes the steps. We went to Tower Pier for a lovely boat trip with meal but Tower Hill Station (plus the hill up to it) is definitely no joke.

I like a proper train but after waiting 40 minutes at Tottenham Hale Station for a train to Waltham Cross (could have got to Cambridge or Stansted fine) it's tube all the way for me now. Actually the tube isn't underground for a good few stops anyway.

Yeah we got tube from Epping. Last few Saturdays it’s been a replacement bus service from Harlow Town.

We use Loughyon as can park on sons drive. It's annoying we could get a bus from corner of our road to outside station but just not reliable. I think I could have got to Harlow from Tottenham Hale quicker too.

Love London but sadly can't manage as often now. I've always said the pavements in London are harder than anywhere else!

It’s the steps! One thing about living in london is the fact that there are steps everywhere! I never even noticed until a friend came to visit and I took her out sightseeing and she commented that the steps were going to kill her!

Love the photos - I particularly like the image of the Floating Lotus! I get what you mean about being tired - I am a Londoner but now I live in a small rural town, walking in London seems intense! I never noticed it when I was living there 😁

a regular commute into London via public transport is a mini-fitness plan in itself - fast walking, stairs everywhere, even in the train station ahead of time you can end up running for the platform or to get a seat half the time
