Hi,
Whats the census on age limits? We have 4 kids. 11, 9, 7 and 4. Oldest 3 love horror movies and dont scare really at all, never have had a fear of films etc. They know its all fake. In fact they have never had a single nightmare. They are desperate to go. Just wondering what kind of age limits they has saw at the horror nights. |

There isn't an official age minimum and anyone can buy a ticket (although there are no child tickets). I think they advise against under 13s going. When we went we saw a handful of kids there... not many though. Perhaps only one or two below 13. I guess it depends on the individual kid but the houses can be very scary... they scared me and I'm 30 and love horror!
Perhaps watch some youtube videos of it? I know you shouldn't film inside the houses but there will be some knocking around anyway I'm sure Edited at 10:17 AM. |

Universal do say 13s and over. You will be asked to leave and escorted out if your child becomes distressed and its deemed to be interfering with others. There are no refunds. You will see children but rarely as young as 7
When you say your children watch horror? What sort of films? Have they seen Nightmare on Elm street, Saw, Friday 13th, Walking Dead? All films in the last couple of years they have realistically brought to life. My bet is on there being a Child's Play/ Chucky house this year to tie into the new films. It's not just the images the use stuff in your face, mirrors, uneven closed pathways to aid disorientation. It's dark, smoky, loud music, all designed to distract. Set pieces from the last couple of years include someone having their spine ripped out in the Shadybrook Asylum 25th Anniversary house complete with bone crunching blood, they have found a way to touch you and prod you without the actors getting close, limbs being sawn off and thrown around. The actors will target children and chase them in the scare zones and the park is much busier than normal so you need to keep a grip on them. It can be a very expensive trip if your children do get spooked and you have to leave, with express passes it will cost just over $200 per person for one night. There are no reductions for children.

Hi thanks for the reply.
In terms of movies, I'd be hard pushed to find a horror film they haven't watched. Sexual scene screend mind you. They have watched every video after video on YouTube and are more excited about the horror houses than magic kingdom. Of course I expect them to jump etc as that's the point but not scared. I expect it to be pricey but hey it's a one off. |

Ooh I think I'd love a Chucky house! Our RIP Tour guide last year told us The Walking Dead won't be a house this year... I hope she's wrong as I'd be gutted if not. I'm a bit of a zombie lover and with Negan I think they could do a great house. Maybe a scare zone?
