Carnival Liberty check-in worry

was booked for the Valor, but Carnival changed their ships and itineraries round. (not a problem and not concerned) however I've tried to check the 6 of us in and the first cabin of 3 had a choice of check in time - picked 11.30-12 time slot... but 5 mins later for the 2nd cabin I was given no choice of time and it was 2.30?! Contacted Carnival to query this and they were the most unhelpful company I've eer had the misfortune to deal with. Said it's all computerised so nothing to do with them! I challenged what was the point of my spending time to link the 2 booking refs and do the check in if this was the case - to which they responded... if you don't check in US Authorities can refuse you entry to the ship - that was it! :angry::angry::angry:

Anyone ever had a similar experience or any recommendations for me please?

I would turn up with your whole party at the first check in time. The comment about not checking in is probably correct - it's similar to API for flights. The boarding time is at the discretion of the cruise line simply wanting to avoid the prospect of long lines.
We've boarded earlier than suggested (on Princess) a few times - nobody questioned us.

Contacted TA who called the cruiseline and was told because we have 2 cabins and one of my kids is listed in the other cabin so the said to choose the late time but explain at check-in. Anyway printed off boarding passes & they ALL have the earlier time
