thinking of going down to the keys for a couple of days , anyone done any fishing down there,any tips

DH has fished down there several times. If you want to go on a boat it's expensive unless you don't mind a party boat but you can save money by looking for a split charter where you go with just one or two other couples.
Shore fishing isn't very productive because the waters are so shallow but there are some bridges you can fish from.
At the end of the 5 mile bridge there is a State Park which is lovely and the fishing is quite good. There is part of an old bridge which you can climb on and look down into the channel. You get an amazing view of the fish and a good idea how many are around. If you see a baracuda the other fish will have gone!
Islamorada, Key Vaca (Marathon) and Key West seem to have the best choice.

thanks for the info,fishing off the bridges sounds interesting and adventure for the two sons,it will be hard to come away from the parks ,but nice to see another part of florida .
