Barcelona accommodation

Where do people tend to stay ahead of your Med cruises from Barca? I'm sure I've seen the Novotel mentioned?! Is that the one on the Diagonal? Thanks!

Hi we are doing a 4 night cruise next August from Barcelona, and are planning to go to Portaventura for 3 nights beforehand! Just to get a bit of theme parking in as we can't do WDW next August!

This year we have let Disney handle our hotel, pretty good price so worth asking your agent about that.

We stayed last time at the Novotel which is a nice hotel. It's not central but is near a tube station so you can get to the centre quickly.

Thank you!
We are off to California this year so not too worried about theme parks, I think we will try to be cultured, eat paella and maybe go to the beach. DH wants to go to Nou Camp and we'll probably go on the HOHO.
I thought the Diagonal was quite central from memory but I last visited in 2006 so my memory may be hazy!
Thanks peeps!

We're booked into oe of the Disney recommended ones the Diagonal Mar. It's near the beach, near a massive new mall and restaurants etc and easy reach to the city centre.

The novotel Barcelona city is where a lot of us stayed in 2011 and indeed where we are staying again this year

It is perfect for the tube station to see the Magic Fountains and there is the HOHO bus stop right outside and a mall across the street with cafes/Burger King/Starbucks/huge supermarket/Disney store!

We found it perfect and would definitely recommend it

We stayed in the Novotel the night before our cruise at the start of May.

It is a really lovely hotel, we actually felt it was wasted on us having such a short stay with them

I told my husband we need to go back to Barcelona and for a city break and stay in the Novotel, although I don't rate my chances, I think Disney holidays are going to eat up our budget from now on

Before our cruise, we stayed at Hotel 1898 just off Ramblas so easy to walk to restaurants etc. Contemporary 4 star hotel with fabulous indoor pool and a great roof top bar. At the time, the best rate I could find was through hotels.com
