New rules for using your refillable mug!

According to Disney Food Blog, the new rules for using your refillable resort mug (should you choose to buy one) are thus...

Pass your mug to a CM, they will scan it for validity.

They will then fill up a disposable cup - not your mug - with the choice of drink you requested, then hand it back to you.

You can then use the disposable cup you have been given, or pour the contents into your refillable mug. Refills are still free, but obviously you will have to rinse and repeat the above process.

I hope they'll have plenty of CM's on hand or the wait for a drink will be...challenging!

That’s ridiculous.. can’t the same cm that is filling the cups just wipe down the machine after each person instead and just lessen the machines ?
Or do what universal do with their freestyle machines and have wipes that each person uses to wipe it down first ,themselves.

Seems like such a waste of cups. I assume they're recyclable but still, big waste.

I saw on TimTracker's vlog that Universal has a team member wiping them down after everyone. That makes more sense surely? I think giving guests wipes has the problem that you're relying on the guests' common sense and some people don't have any!

Hit the nail on the head there, Ray. Some folk 'turn off' when they're on holiday and it's somebody elses problem.

This is very similar to what already happens on Disney cruises in that you can't fill up your own mug u have to fill up a paper cup and then put in your own mug but I feel this will lead to queing in order to wait for CMs to pour drinks. Not surprised though as otherwise the cleaning needed would be a nightmare. CM's are continually cleaning the drinks stations on DCL

We did 14 nights in Saratoga last Summer and they were refurbing Artist Pallete. They had cans in big freezer bins and a CM handing them to you one by one. I can believe anything after this. Ridiculous.
