It isn't true. They have not ceased operations. They are still flying and trading. As I said before, that may change overnight. But for him to say that now isn't correct.

I have flight booked with TC and just checking all TC WW flights and everything post midnight seems to have changed to ‘delayed’ status

I hope it’s not true, I really do. I have so many friends who work for TC - not to mention those that have trips booked. It’s just heartbreaking.

It's the same thing. They haven't ceased operations at this point in time. He's not helping the situation.

Companies usually don't announce they are winding up till last minute but prior to that a huge number of people will know how likely it is.
Thomas Cook dont own their aircraft so the leasing companies will be preparing to secure their aircraft and have a pretty good idea.
Technical maintenance/storage providers and Parking and Storage facilities will be contacted for slots.
The CAA will be monitoring and preparing for the AOC cancellation.
Wet lease operators will be contacted to position aircraft for repatriation.
A good 'aviation expert' will have contacts in all these companies and be able to call it when it becomes clear a wind up is process.
However, it would be very irresponsible and a big gamble for anyone to put their name to a statement without being sure.

It's certainly sad but it's no different to carillon or BHS or Woolworths. Sad when it happened but we've adapted to life without them.
