New York Trip (Not Me!) Hotel Advice Please.

My Son and his Partner intend to book a 7 night trip to NY for early June 19.

Not surprising I have found him VA flights using Miles and a Reward Upgrade so for PE they can both go for circa £400 each.

But some advice please as I haven't done NY since the 1980's!

Decent hotel for 1 night suitable for a LHR Term 3 departure.

A hotel for 7 nights in NY. They want something nice so 4* or better.

They already have a plan ref what to do and when and it sounds very good.

Any advice gratefully appreciated thank you.

We treated ourselves when we stayed in New York last year Tom. We stayed in Park Lane hotel which is on the edge of Central Park, it’s an old Art Deco hotel 4* and very nice. We had a park view room which had beautiful views across the park, and the higher the floor the better the view (we were mid- hotel height and had a very good view) There is also a resort fee but this includes a buffet and drinks each evening between 5-7 which is very nice with fancy finger food and wine/beer in a lovely setting.

It depends what area he wants though as it is up by the Park but has great subway links close by, we found it a good base

Sounds nice I must say. I think they are looking for somewhere near Central park.

Certainly that's where we used to stay in the 80's and I did when I went in the 70's.

Think it's changed a bit since then!

For LHR it's got to be the Premier Inn bath road. Fantastic hotel. Use Good 2 Go parking. It's within walking distance of the hotel. (Drop bags off first 😉&#128521.

Holiday Inn Manhattan Chelsea 6th AVE.
Perfect location for everything.

If staying over a weekend they should consider Coney Island.

And if they have any free time head out on the train on the Ploughkeepsie line- out over the Hudson and West point and the scenery is like the Scottish Highlands only 1/2 hour outside of NYC .

Katie. He was leaning towards that PI as he worked in Slough for 7 years so knows the area well. I hasten to add he lived in Windsor!

Good tips.

Edit. Just checked that PI. £37.50p for the night they need, can't fault that. Plus they could do the meal deal.

Do NOT book the Ameritania near Central Park. Over priced, cramped and really not good

Mr T
We've stayed there 7/8 times.
We always look at walking to a nearby pub but then always just go for the meal deal. It's such good value.
Only ever had 1 issue when I asked for veg instead of peas (I hate peas 😂&#128514 and the waiter said no! He was sooo rude. A little chat with the restaurant manager sorted him out and she gave us a free drink too.

When I travelled to NY regularly with work, I always stayed at Lotte Palace Hotel. It is midtown about five blocks from Central Park. Great location and great hotel.
