Talking We're all going on a Poly-holiday - October 2019: Day 10: The tipsy ducks are at it again

Day 10: The tipsy ducks are at it again
Tuesday 22 October 2019

Index

Bonus trip to Epcot revisiting all the best snacks at Epcot, Soarin’ ‘Ohana and an evening at the pool

After possibly THE most full on day we have ever had at Disney, we decided to take today at a much slower pace. We had a bit of a lie in (for us anyway) then got ready and went down to Capt. Cook’s for a light breakfast of an “everything” bagel for me and chocolate chip muffins for everyone else.

The girls decided to make their Muffins “extra” by stuffing them with some of the M&Ms from their obscene stash of candy we had acquired the night before (by the way this lasted months at home even with giving loads of it away!)

We got 99% of the facepaint off I would say! A teeny bit of a yellowish tinge

Today we were going back Epcot basically to eat more delicious food and ride our favourite rides.

After breakfast, we walked to the TTC.

Some little ducks on the way to Epcot

There was a low mist in the air today and it was really humid - it made my hair super frizzy kind of like Monica from Friends’ hair when they went to Barbados.

We walked straight to Soarin’ to try for a walk on and as it was only just after the park opened, there was hardly a wait at all, in fact it was only 10 minutes. Super happy with that!

Patrick, we love you! 😍

After an epic ride around the world we walked back over to Test Track to use our fast pass.

Some of the Epcot construction

On the way in

And time for Test Track!

My pet peeve is the fact the single rider line always puts the single rider on the front right, where the photo is so what would have been a nice family ride photo is always spoiled by the single rider

Car designs

We then had a browse around at the cars afterwards

Oh look, the car we had in Cali the year before!

And how about this beauty?!

Due to the tier system and the fact we just love Test Track and Soarin’ so much we hadn’t managed to plan in a Frozen fast pass this trip but we all wanted to go on so instead we decided to just join the standby queue and grin and bear it. It displayed a 40 minute wait and it was pretty accurate unfortunately. It seemed to move really really slowly, we passed the time by playing some clapping games and I did some social media updating whilst I waited.

Slightly obscured family pic...

Also I have no idea what that guy is doing to his kid's head

We walked over to the China Pavilion for another browse and to buy some more twisty pets for the girls, which they had developed a sudden love for.

They had a little play with the puppets and then we popped inside Lotus Blossom to get a little fix of Orange chicken - YUMMY!

Here are the twisty pets

After sharing our orange chicken we split up to queue up for China Pavillion’s best snacks - curry pockets and tipsy ducks in love from Joy of Tea

And the chicken and shrimp bun and the spare ribs from the F&W booth (which we have already scored in one of the previous days

We found a quiet spot and sat down together to feast on our plethora of delicious food and drink

The next thing we fancied again was the food from the Mexican F&W booth, whilst Andy and Immy queued, Izzy and I nipped into the shop nearby to get a fresh fuel rod from the machine and saw Chef Daisy sashaying passed.

We of course had to have the margarita again (Andy and I shared this time) and the tacos

What a beautiful day today

We were pretty happy with our mini snack haul from Epcot and although they were all things we had already tried before we just really wanted them again!

We walked back through to the Epcot Experience for some photos

Oh hey, monorail!

The girls loved their frozen drinks so much the last time we came they begged us to have another and feeling kind, we said yes!

Choosing what to have

They had blue raspberry again… if it aint broke… but this time they topped it with nerds instead of boba balls - adventurous

We stopped for a couple of photos on the way out of the park

Bubblegum wall

Blueberry wall

After a brief but exhilarating and delicious trip to Epcot we walked up to the monorail station and took it back to the TTC and walked back to the Poly

To get some respite from the heat we walked through some of the longhouses to feel the lovely cool air conditioning. One of them happened to be a DVC longhouse and it looked totally different! The hallways seemed wider and the decor was different - we liked it

We nipped back to our room for a little down time and chilled out in our room until it was time to get ready for our 5pm reservation at ‘Ohana

Being so close to so many fabulous restaurants and bars was such a huge perk, we literally were a few minutes from our room to Ohana - fantastic!

We checked in and waited a few minutes before being called to our table - very quick for Ohana!

We were escorted in and given our pineapple bread then shown to our table - it had a lovely view of the castle (you can’t see so well in the picture) but we were really happy with it.

Pineapple Coconut Bread!

We ordered a couple of cocktails to get us started: Andy got surprise surprise… Ultimate Long Island Iced Tea - Bacardí Superior Rum, Tito's Handmade Vodka, Hendrick's Gin, Corazón Blanco Tequila, Cointreau, and Sweet-and-Sour with a splash of Coca-Cola®

I got the Magical Star Cocktail - X-Fusion organic Mango and Passion Fruit Liqueur, Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Pineapple Juice, and a souvenir multicolored Glow Cube

As you probably know, ‘Ohana’s dinner menu is all you care to enjoy dinner served family style and includes the bread and a mixed greens salad with a Lilikoi dressing to start, followed by Pork Dumplings tossed in Garlic-Ginger Sauce served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces and Honey-Coriander Chicken Wings served with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauce for appetisers

The girls chose Keiki Lemonade - Odwalla® Lemonade, Pineapple, Passion Fruit, and Citrus which they LOVED - they a big mocktail fans at the moment

I thought I had read something online that Disney had got rid of the Ukulele player at Ohana and I was so sad about it I even told Andy whilst listening to what I thought was pre recorded ukulele music “I can’t believe they got rid of the live ukulele player here, that’s so sad” to which he replied, “Ummm he’s right behind you, babe” Boy, do I feel sheepish!

But I was super happy that it had turned out to be fake news and we all really enjoyed listening to his lovely relaxing voice.

The starters were all delicious and then the mains arrived… Sweet-n-Sour Chicken prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces and Szechuan Sirloin Steak prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces, they also had Spicy Grilled Peel-n-Eat Shrimp prepared over an oak fire, served on Skewers with Peanut and Sweet-n-Sour Sauces but we didn’t really fancy them.

It also came with teriyaki noodles and stir fried vegetables.

I had another cocktail - this time a Puka Punch which was The Real McCoy 5 yr Rum, Bacardí Superior Rum, John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum, Tropical Juices, Passion Fruit, and Angostura Bitters

Andy stuck with his fave - Long island Iced Tea again.

After a really gorgeous feast we were presented with the family sharing dessert - ‘Ohana Bread Pudding à la mode topped with Caramel Sauce and Bananas

The girls were given the Children's Dessert - Rice Krispies Treat with Sprinkles but they wanted to share ours so they wrapped theirs up to have in our room at another time.

Absolutely stuffed, we waddled out the restaurant and we just had to take a photo by the cheeky tiki

And his cheeky butt!

We went back to our room to change into swimming gear and headed back out to the Lava Pool to spend the rest of the evening relaxing and enjoying our gorgeous resort

Watching the Electrical Water Pageant

The girls having a blast in the water play area

Tons of swimming and relaxing

A delicious and relaxing day was had by all!

Fabulous day again! We are a goody family as well and love an evening meal at Ohana. Somehow I don’t think we will be doing it this summer as planned though. ☹️

Glad you managed to get all the face paint off!

I agree about the photo on Test Track - you’d think they’d put the two single riders in first - maybe nobody’s suggested it?

A lovely relaxing day for you - the Poly resort looks more relaxing than I’d have thought. We looked round the lobby area and it seemed so hectic and busy it put me off a bit but away from that bit it looks a lot calmer. Which has been your favourite deluxe resort?
