And IT of course. I hated Cujo too sad, but yes Needful Things and The Tommyknockers are brilliant. I may go back and re-read a few. Again.

Under the Dome was brilliant. Another good recent one is Dr Sleep (the sequel to The Shining)

That's an amazing book, will have to read it again.

Christine is one of my favourites, along with the Dark Tower series

I must admit having read all of Stephen King, this book really stands out for me. The Stand probably being a close second.

I loved under the dome, but at about 900 pages it is something you need to commit to.

I'd start with Carrie, if you don't like that, you probably won't like the others either. Carrie is classic and like pride and prejudice, 1984 etc, everyone should have read it.

Can I also recommend the Tom Thorne books by Mark Billingham?

My all time absolute favorite book, what a story. My copy is battered beyond belief I have had it so long and read it so many times.
One of my fave authors, I love Pet Cemetery, Geralds Game, Cujo and just read The institute which I thought was great too. I love his horror rather than his science fiction books I must admit..

Pet Sematary by Stephen King is often in the top 10 scariest/best written horror books. For me his best was Salem’s Lot. Bloody terrified me that did. Some of his books can be a long read and a few have been a little meandering for me. Loved reading Under the Dome, great concept apart from the end, which left me a little wanting more.

Have you heard of Peter Straub? He is another great Horror writer but the best horror book I have read for a while now is called Swan Song by American novelist Robert R. McCammon. This was gruesome in the extreme but amazingly written.
