Wedding Question

Just want some reassurance really.

My son is getting married in Dec in a hot air balloon in Orlando. He was going to use a company to make the arrangements but has now decided he will DIY it ( or I will lol ).

From what I asked before and read on the wedding sticky it seems straight forward but can someone double check for me please?

So the happy couple trot off here: Osceola/Kissimmee Courthouse (best for Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee East 192 Areas) (we are staying on site).

Take their passports and cash and obtain a licence, take this to the balloon man who will perform the ceremony and the balloon man sends everything back to the courthouse and a few weeks later a marriage certificate arrives back here. ( its been advised the we provide a self addressed envelope but obviously we wont know how much the postage is so is that included in the fees?

TIA

When we got married in 2013 we had to take the papers back to the courthouse ourselves and had our marriage certificate stamped there and then, things might have changed since then.

We got married in NY, but it sounds the same. We needed to visit the courthouse with passports and payment for the wedding licence, which we gave to the officiant, who sent all the paperwork off and we received our marriage licence about 6 weeks later, delivered at home. We could have paid extra and taken the paperwork to be signed ourselves to get the long certificate, with more details on, but it was a hassle and not required, so we didn’t bother. We had to get our licence in specific time, more than 24 hours before the wedding.

Thanks, we are there about a week before they get married so will pick it up ASAP.

We’re getting married in November in Miami but using that courthouse to get our licence- we’re taking it back ourselves and hoping to pick up our certificate there and then. I haven’t read anywhere that the officiant has to send it off? X

Congratulations. They don't have too, it just saves us going back.

STEP 10 - Wedding license issued

Your license will be either returned to you (US couples only), if time permits (regular mail unless you pay for Fed Ex service). If not we will request the details of whom you have booked your wedding with here in Florida. For overseas couples it will be sent to the wedding company / coordinator you are working with here in Florida.

The Marriage Licence
The marriage licence is valid for 60 days from the day of issue. The Marriage licence has to be shown to the Notary or Minister prior to the ceremony, to ensure all legal requirements have been fulfilled. The Notary or Minister will then be responsible for posting the Marriage licence back to the courthouse to have it validated. This will become the official Marriage Certificate. This process should take between 4 – 6 weeks and will be posted directly back to the couple’s home address.

We got our license from Osceola courthouse last month. Our officiant returned the licence to the courthouse and it mailed back to the UK by the court not the officiant and arrived home before we did

We went to the courthouse to get ours using our passports, you can use the license immediately if you wish. We took it back the day after we got married & paid $10 for extra copies of our certificate. Easy as that.
