Summer 2020

Hello all,

For the past two summers (end of August) I've stayed at the Newport Bay Compass Club in DLP. Both years I've done the buy 2 night get 2 free deal and its worked out fairly cheap. For next year the only deal I can see if 5% off which makes it over twice the price I've previously paid (£1700 this year compared to over £3600 for next year).

Does anyone know of any similar offers or if this offer might return? My son and daughter really want to go back in 2020 (and don't want to do Florida for some reason) but it is a lot of money to pay for 4 nights.

Thanks

Gary

The two night free offer hasn't been around for a while. Rumour has it that Disney are moving away from that offer onto the percentage discounts and free dining model. Nothing to say it won't come back, but its unlikely at the moment.

It sounds like you are booking under a "up to 25%" off deal but for your dates Newport is only giving 5% - they only have a set number of rooms allocated to each deal so once they are sold, the discount goes down.

Have you considered staying at another hotel where the discount might be greater? Or checking with another agent (just because Disney are only giving 5% doesn't mean they all have the same deal) - definitely price up Walt Disney Travel Company and Magic Breaks to check their prices too. Hope that helps.

What about a non Compass Club room with 25% off and free half board?

I wanted a Compass Club family room for next summer but ended up changing to a standard family room due to availability and cost.

Club rooms under the old 4 for 2 deal were good value but maybe not so much under the free half board deals. I haven’t seen availability on Golden Forest rooms either for summer 2020.

Also check the foreign versions of the DLP website, you never know what they have allocated, etc. X

Thanks all I'll look into the above options and hopefully find something more reasonable

I’ve actually changed my booking now to Newport Bay Compass Club, which seems to have become available. Looking on the main DLP website they have Compass Club rooms at the end of August, with 25% off and free half board. I booked three nights and will add on a room only somewhere for 1 night to keep costs down a bit.

It’s worth checking Sunday or Tuesday as a starting day if Monday looks sold out on the room type. We’ve had some quiet Sunday evenings and Monday mornings starting the holiday on the Sunday.

If there are no good offers for August 2020, I’d just keep looking. We’ve found that the offers on other countries’ sites often come up much closer to travel dates than the U.K. ones. We booked our last DLP trip 5 months in advance via the French site, after deciding that it was way out of budget when we first looked a year in advance. We ended up paying well under budget, so it can be worth waiting and watching (and shopping around.)
