Mobile Spends ?

So. 2 adults. 2 kids. 10 nights self catering. All entertainment already booked and paid for. How much do you reckon on spends? Get your crystal balls out please. Husband is really fretting that we won’t be taking enough.

First time I think we took $2000 for 2 adults and 3 kids and we had plenty of spending money left over.

We take our spends on a FairFX prepaid card and top it up as needed while there. Usually get a good exchange rate with this. It’s very flexible. We tend to not take much actual cash and this trip have gone 2 weeks without using cash once (staying on site at AKL, charging everything to our room).

We are here for three weeks, we brought around $1500 dollars for two adults, got about $500 left with 5 days to go. We have done lots of things outside the parks such as dolphin tour at Clearwater, fun spot America, an escape room, and have eaten out at least once every day. Most expensive days for us are universal days when we spend $26 just to park, then around $10 to reactivate the drink cup, then lunch and dinner.

I always find we spend a lot on the first few days, then seem to spend less over the next week, then spend a lot towards the end of the holiday, not sure why it works that way!

We spent £75 a day for 3A + 2C that included Disney parking, fuel and food. We did take some snacks with us and ate out for dinner about 4 times in 16 nights. We spent a lot less than I thought considering how strong the dollar is and how expensive groceries are.

Just get a Revolut card and top that up as you go.

We allow $50 a day per person (never spend that much, only do if eating TS at Disney)

You can really spend as much or as little as you want (I know thats no help!) There is a food report on here that is $100 per day for a family of 3 I think which I always enjoyed reading - if you searched the site for budget food trips or $100 per day I am sure it will come up...

Things to consider or budget for depend on if you are staying at Disney/have a car/what your eating preferences are/ if staying onsite without a car - you wont have the daily parking fees or fuel but will be spending more on food then if offsite -are you a family that likes 3 big meals etc etc we have done trips where we have taken more money and burnt through it and done other trips when we have budgeted $50 per day per person (2 adults) and had money left over. Its all possible - things that can catch you out that add up if its a first trip - the daily parking fees at the parks between $25-$30 per day and tipping which is anywhere between 10-20% of the bill (depending what your preference is) Fuel is very cheap so dont really even consider this in our budget unless doing lots of longs trips and buying merch in the parks!

We have done the $50 pppd based on breakfast at villa, lunch at a QS in park and dinner offsite either back at villa or Millers, Dennys,IHOP, Etc etc and some of these are mix and match so might have breakfast out on way to park, then no lunch required and dinner later in parks. If you want to eat all 3 meals and snacks in the parks everyday it'll prob cost you double that I imagine, also a lot a places off site do 'kids eat free' between certain times or if an adult is buying a main meal so that is a cost saving also - we take water bottles and those small squash things to add to water and drink that in parks - and take in a few cereal bar and snacks if anyone is suddenly gets hungry - do a big shop at walmart and you can get frozen pizzas and bits like that to have when you get back from parks if you dont want to stop for dinner. Also portions are huge so most of the time we can only handle a main and share a dessert which saves on money without really even thinking about it - everyone is different and what they like to spend money on and how they like to eat on holiday but as a rough guide would say $50 per adult
