Ouch! I find the issues with school trips is they are usually late getting in, then have to leave at like 3/4 and that time there are a lot of them! You gotta use the whole day to get the most out of it! (Or go in sept/oct)

Between 10am and 4pm the enhanced rail replacement bus service will also serve Chessington World of Adventures, picking up and dropping off in the main visitor car park. As a result, visitors will not need to walk from Chessington South station.
The advice is that the replacement bus service from Worcester Park will add around 45 minutes to the journey.

It was about an 8 hr round trip from us. My neighbour joked and said he could have got to Florida in that time😂

DD2 works at Chessington at the moment and she said it is very busy. Key message is to get there for opening and go straight for the Gruffalo ride as it's so popular - there's also meet and greet to do with various characters I believe (that's what DD does a lot of).

If you are staying on the campsite or the hotel, there's kids clubs in the morning and evening and the gruffalo comes to visit (DD does those too!)

thanks for the replies

They ended up going to thorpe park and it was surprisingly quiet compared to what we expected esp as the weather was good. Other than the ghost train which they waited 50 mins for ( it was around 80 mins+ most of the day) by using the app to keep an eye on times they managed to do most rides other multiple times with a max 30 min wait some went as low as 5-10 mins.
