They do a figure of 8 and so half way through the cruise you are back at the original destination. Then the second week you do different islands to the first. You keep the same cabin and can either stay on board that day or get off and explore the area and come back before the ship leaves.

If you back to back that mean you have to come off the ship then go to port then back to ship...

Because I do remember an interpreter was telling us that same cabin but they had to get off the ship with luggage then back on again, they were not happy...

I have a back to back booked on RCI Oasis of the Seas next year.

Basically it is 2 cruises booked consecutively. Depending on what you book, you can do the same cruise twice, or do what we have done and choose one where the 1st week is different to the 2nd. (Fist week East Caribbean and the 2nd Western).

We have booked the same cabin for both weeks, so we won't have to pack up inbetween, but it can be done where you change cabins. With RCI, you just pack up, leave suitcases in your cabin and they will move them to your new cabin for the 2nd week.

Regarding leaving the ship in between, it is different for all ships / ports and crusielines. Some make you get off, go through customs and then you can get straight back on. Others make you get off and stay off until the ship is completely empty before you can re-board, and the lucky few don't have to get off at all.
