will the airlines discount tickets.

i wonder if the airlines will start discounting their ticket prices. It looks like airlines and travel companies might struggle as the fear of corona virus gathers momentum.
I can remember 2008 or 9 when the markets crashed and the airlines were selling tickets fo under£100 to the states. Will this happen again once people start to cancel their flights or not book at all
Hopefully they can all withstand a downturn in travel which may get worse if they are forced to cancel to more destinations.

Simple answer, nope. More likely to cancel flights as it would be cheaper for them.

I was reading an article in a buisness flight magazine yesterday that suggested flights wont get discounted as the issue is that the demand is not there and discounting will not stimulate demand.

It is not the price that is putting people off booking at the moment it worry, cheaper price wont stop the worry in most people.

Discounts are already appearing. TUI are offering direct flights to Sanford for around £300 in April and May now.

Virgin have also dropped too. So they are falling

Flight prices are definitely falling, holiday bookings are already being impacted. Unfortunately this will definitely have a detrimental impact on an already fragile industry. Worrying times for those who work in the travel industry if this doesn’t get dealt with quickly.

There are some great fares to UAE at the moment and hotel deals due to lack of PAX flying further . Half the price than they were when I was looking earlier this month. I feel a cheeky March break in Dxb coming on ...

Tui have done that for the last couple of years for that time of year, and I found virgin to be very competitively priced from Gatwick over the last couple of years out of school holidays too.
