Cimate Change Strike By Students

Just hearing again about school children and students selecting to strike to protest about climate change. When I was at school I was not massively motivated, I would possibly have protested against anything if it ment a day out of school. I would have 100% more respect for these young people if they got up at 8am on a Sunday morning (especially after a night in the student clubs) and protested.

If parents can get fined for taking their child out of school without a valid reason fine the children for not attending school. They can protest at the weekend if they want.

It's not a strike if it's on a day when they wouldn't be at school.

It’s not a strike anyway. It’s children refusing to go to school. OP has a point, it looks like a bit of a lark and would be more meaningful if they did it in their spare time.

Semantics. It's generally been called a school strike whenever these events have taken place around the world.

It’s not semantics, it’s a fact. It’s not a strike, it is ridiculous to even call it that. I have never heard of such an “event” before being called a strike, not sure I have even heard of such an “event” at all.

Well whether it’s a strike or protest they are going to get wet today! I suppose they will learn how to combat exposure or hypothermia!
