Yellow warning of rain

From 03:00 GMT on Fri 28 February
To 06:00 GMT on Sat 29 February

Heavy rain causing some flooding and transport disruption.

- Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer

- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
Its worse than I thought then!

As a parent I'd be more concerned about the police warnings that security might not be enough for today, I've seen quite a few posts on Instagram this morning of parents saying how proud they are of their little darlings doing this todsg but I bet they will be first to complain too if dear Janet or Johnnie get a grazed knee or a bit of jostling about.
I'm all for raising awareness it's this bringing everything else to a standstill gets on my wick, not sure how this is set up if its marching through the streets but wouldn't it be better to congragate on a giant public green space and raise awareness there? Hope its a safe day for all involved

If I'd have been able to get out of school for an hour let alone a full day I'd have gone whether I believed in the cause or not, a day not being in class and being with my mates yes please

In the bad old days of the 70's when strikes abounded, our school weeks consisted of a three day week (Mon,Wed and Fri) then a two day week(Tues/Thurs) - all sports suspended too. We didn't need a cause to follow it just happened. TBH I was glad when the strikes ended.

Protest or strike isn’t the issue for me - the heart of this is young people demonstrating their depth of feeling for an issue that causes them huge concern. Good on them, stay safe.

No issue with that, but why not conduct it on a Sunday Morning with minimum disruption to others?

I know of two schools where certain classes are attending with teachers as an approved educational class.

Just heard they are expecting 60k ! (originally expected 15k... ) and Greta will get police escort to Bristol presumably on carbon neutral electric motorbikes... and all the congestion will be offset by the organisers

Wholeheartedly agree. If only some of the older generation took it seriously rather than denying it is happening or sneering at those trying to make a difference.
