Lost Freeview Channels

Need some help!
We live in the county of Berkshire and last week we needed to retune our Freeview TVs since then we have lost loads of channels HD and normal. I have tried everything recommend on the Freeview website to no avail. Any help would be grateful.

Hi Paul,

Like you, I live in Berkshire (near Ascot just on the Surrey/Berks border), and I can sympathise with your loss of Freeview channels.
I had the same problem following an earlier retune a few weeks back. I assume you receive your transmissions from the Crystal Palace transmitter, too, where there appears to be a lot of work going on just now which I understand is likely to continue for a while.

It took me a number of retunes to get all the channels back up and running, but even now there are still some problems. 107 BBC News breaks up from time to time, and so do some of the other HD channels. Mostly, though, the reception is pretty much back to normal. Our location has always been a problem, despite a huge loft antennae and boosters.

I suggest you try a few retunes over several days until you get the full number of channels. It’s quite a hassle, I know, but I did this and found I managed to get more when retuning during the weekend. We currently get 166 channels.

A knowledgeable relative suggested disconnecting the antennae and then doing the retune, which clears all the channels from the tv, digibox, whatever. Then plugging the aerial back in and doing the retune again. I haven’t done this, but it might be worth a try if all else fails.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

John

Thanks John, I have contacted Free view and they are sending an engineer out in a few weeks free of charge. Hopefully they will sort it.
