Alamo SUV with built in ON STAR NAV !

Hi

Landed at Sanford last Tuesday - went out to the parking lot - paid for smallest/cheapest suv (as always) - and was given a Brand New Chevrolet Traverse.

It has it's own wifi built in which actually works - although I have the 3 Network and can use data it's awesome for my sons games/tablet/switch etc.

It also had a sat nav button called "on star" - I pressed it but it just said route not set - so thought it must need a disc etc.

After 2 days I pushed the On Star Button and it actually telephones a customer service rep from the car itself to the "on star" service.

He explained all I do if I want to use the satnav is to call them via the "on star" button - tell them where I want to go and they then send the info to the car which then guides me...………….AND It works - rather brilliantly.

No messing around with zip codes, addresses etc - I thought I would share this just in case anybody else gets one.

I'll try and do a video before we leave - but I'm not too sure how to upload it onto here ?

Nice one... we had a traverse 2 years ago but never noticed the On Star button... see what we get next week, might get lucky...!

OP. I assume the button was up in the head lining by the mirror?

My Vauxhall Zafira has Onstar fitted and I find it very usefull
Another good feature is if you have an accident and the air bags are deployed they will contact you in the car
If you don't answer they will send the emergency services to your location

we've had on star assistance in our Alamo cars (fullsize sedan and up) for at least the last 3 years.

I remember perfectly how we noticed
I was just out the Alamo garage at MCO and when I tried to adjust the rearview, I accidentally pushed the button ... and was met by a guy talking to me in my car ... oops sorry, didn't mean to ... (after 12 hours on a plane, I was in some kind of panic mode :p )

That sounds good! Talking of sat nav we’ve got one included in our Alamo booking. With got a standard SUV booked. Will we be given a sat nav? Or do most have them built in? 2016 we’d booked an intermediate but were given a Dodge Durango and it was already activated.

may have it in the car, but it may be deactivated or the subscription has expired, just your luck. They will give you a sat nav unit if you have one booked, at the exit barrier.

Last car I had did have on star but it had expired so not much use.

Presumably the newer the car, the more likely this or the sat nav will be working

You'd think so wouldn't you...…...but no it's actually part of the touch screen entertainment display.


It's also on here where you can connect to the 4G LTE wifi the vehicle comes with.
