Hi,

Just looking at booking a flight and it has a connection in Chicago of 1 hour and 45 mins, anybody that has been to Chicago - is this long enough?

im also flying into Chicago next year but from Dublin so land at terminal 3 with immigration pre cleared. All non pre cleared international flights land at terminal 5 at O'Hare which means there is no airside connection to the other terminals you would need to clear security again . with all this in mind I would say its more than likely going to be too tight for time with immigration to clear before you even start to change terminals . This is based on what I've read not personal experience .

I can't remember the exact amount of time it took when I did it but it was pretty quick - there were no hold-ups at any stage. I do remember that it was a long walk to the gate once back through security.

Is this an inbound flight or are you traveling home? Do you have to clear immigration? If you do I don’t think it’s enough time but if flight is an internal flight you should have no problem with transfer. If traveling in summertime beware of weather delays which quite often happen especially from mid afternoon on.

this pretty much sums up my personal experience (landed at T5 then had to clear immigration, bag drop for connecting flight, then go through security at another terminal for the connecting flight). Took 3 and a half hours altogether and literally made our connecting flight by the skin of our teeth.

I did it a number of years ago and had a 'short' connection. Immigration took hardly any time at all, had time to wander around, buy some skittles & a magazine and back on to Orlando. Actually quite a good place to stop and clear immigration. If this is being offered as a deal by an airline they tend not to offer stops that are unmanageable. If there's a freak reason you miss the connection, they put you on the next flight. I'd go with it.
