We have been numerous times to key west either driving down or flying into key west airport...which has a very short runway 😯
I feel sorry for my sis in law who is due to go to key west this Thursday 14th for a week...

Some were removed safely from Key West. Eden House, where we stayed, posted this to their Facebook feed on Thursday:

We have a bayside home booked for first week in November in Marathon. We will see what happens!

We have a two night stay on Marathon Key booked for 5th/6th October. Will have to wait and see what the situation is in a couple of weeks before making any decisions.

I'm concerned about Hemingway's House and all the gorgeous cats. I hope they're safe.

The guys that were streaming from the boat are okay (they did a live stream on Facebook s/v andromeda), they said it's a mess, houses destroyed, dead animals etc.

Mike theiss on twitter has a few videos and has said marathon to sugarloaf key is the worst. And from his videos there is a lot of water.

I remember an article from just prior to Irma hitting that said that the Hemingway staff (or some at least) were staying on to look after the cats.

Hope all got away with as little damage and fright as possible.

We are booked into Knights Key Inn on Marathon on 7th October for 4 nights

Looking at the devastation I would say we are very unlikely to be able to go.

It is a disaster area and will take months possibly years to rebuild.

It is heartbreaking for all the people who live there. I hope they get lots of support from the U.S government to rebuild.
